Start with a sphere.
Open the Warp Options and apply Squeeze with a maximum Vertical of 100% and a Bend of -100%. Choose Expand Appearance to make it permanent.
Apply 3D Revolve Options and be sure that you have selected Right Edge by Offset.
Your object will be similar to the container shown below.
Open Scribble Options and make sure that the Stroke Width and Spacing are the same as below.
You can see that the vase has a texture on it.
